Adam Lambert Biography

Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, Adam Mitchel Lambert is a 29 year old singer, songwriter, and actor. Originally starting off as an underground artist, it wasn’t until May 2009 that Lambert garnered himself a mainstream audience by finishing as the runner-up on the eighth season of American Idol. It was his vocals and risk-taking, fearless approach that earned him the respect of Industry VIPs, including Lady Gaga and Slash and Queen. He has been referred to as “a musical chameleon” and is the first successful openly gay mainstream pop artist to launch a career on a major label in the United States.

His debut album, For Your Entertainment, was released in November 2009, via RCA Records/19 Recordings and debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 in December 2009. The album is certified Gold, selling 708,000 copies in the US as of August 18, 2010, and over 1 million worldwide. He has won various prestigious awards and also been nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for ‘Whataya Want From Me’ in 2010.
