Keith Lionel Urban, better known as just Keith Urban, is a New Zealand-born Australian, Grammy Award winning country music singer-songwriter and guitarist, who plays acoustic and electric guitar, as well as ganjo, bass guitar, mandolin, piano, sitar, bouzouki and drums. Urban has received commercial success mainly in the U.S and Australia. Other reasons that make Urban a genuine celebrity are his good looks, marriage to Nicole Kidman, and outspoken battle with alcoholism. Nevertheless, it has always been his music that maintained his career, from his work with the Ranch during the late ‘90s to the acclaimed solo albums that followed.
Keith Urban began his musical career in Australia at a tender age. He released a self-titled debut album in 1991 and charted four singles in Australia before moving to the United States in 1992. Eventually, Urban found work as a session guitarist before starting a band known as The Ranch. He made his solo American debut in 1999 with the album Keith Urban, which was certified platinum and produced his first American #1 hit ‘But for the Grace of God’. However, his breakthrough hit was the #1 ‘Somebody Like You’, from his second Capitol album Golden Road. Since, Urban has released six more albums and won the hearts of millions across the globe.
