Kelly Brianne Clarkson is a Grammy Award winning is an American pop rock singer-songwriter and an occasional actress. She climbed the ladder of success after winning the very first season of the popular television series American Idol in 2002. Ever since, Kelly Clarkson has released four albums under RCA Records. Her debut album, Thankful, released in 2003, went double platinum, and her sophomore effort, Breakaway (2004), was certified multi-platinum and earned two Grammy Awards. Her third album, My December was released in 2007, and her latest album All I Ever Wanted was released in 2009 and got nominated for a Grammy Award. Clarkson’s phenomenal singing is not only appreciated in the United States alone, but also in the UK, as she is the only American Idol contestant who has reached #1 in the United Kingdom.
Born in Fort Worth, Texas, Kelly Clarkson took refuge in music after her parents’ divorce. While attending high school, Clarkson performed in musicals and also sang at her high school talent show. Hoping for music to be her ticket to a college scholarship, Clarkson continued singing and soon started classical training. She auditioned for American Idol in 2001 and being the most naturally gifted singers of the show, she won the first season of the show in 2002.
