Originating in Columbus, Ohio, Rascal Flatts is an American country pop band consisting of three band members: Gary LeVox (lead vocals), Jay DeMarcus (bass guitar and keyboards and vocals) and Joe Don Rooney (lead guitar and vocals). The trio made its debut in 2000 with their single ‘Prayin’ for Daylight’, which reached #3 on the Billboard country charts, and up till now, Rascal Flatts have released eight studio albums, from which seven have been certified platinum or higher by the Recording Industry Association of America. The band has produced eleven number one hit singles, along with several other top ten singles. Their longest-lasting Number One is ‘Bless the Broken Road’, which spent five weeks on the charts at that position, while their biggest crossover single is ‘What Hurts the Most’, which topped both the country and Adult Contemporary charts in 2006, and was a Top Ten pop hit.
Gary LeVox and Jay DeMarcus are second cousins, belonging to a musical family. Soon, they were joined by DeMarcus and Rascal Flatts took shape, getting signed to Lyric Street Records in late 1999. Today, this country trio is known primarily for its pleasing harmony and Grammy-winning song craft.
